Simone Bennons-Stoby

With heavy hearts yet steadfast hope in Christ, we announce that Simone Bennons-Stoby was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour on the evening of Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Lakeridge Hospital in Oshawa, Ontario, at the age of 55.

Born on March 17, 1970, in Toronto, Simone was a beloved wife to Rohan Stoby and the treasured daughter of the late Muriel (née Adams) and Burtland Bennons. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings Carol Bernard, Michelle Williams, and Jarel Bennons, along with many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, her foster son and her dear friends.

Simone was raised in Scarborough, Ontario, where she thrived in both sports and community life.
She earned her teaching degree from York University and faithfully served as an educator within the Toronto District School Board. Her vocation was more than a career—it was a ministry. She poured her heart into her students, sowing seeds of knowledge, kindness, and faith.

A gifted musician, Simone was recognized for her excellence in piano, acoustic, and electric guitar. She used her musical talents not for personal acclaim, but as an offering of praise and worship to God.

Above all, Simone’s life was anchored in her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. He was her rock, her refuge, and her joy. She walked in the Spirit, lived with eternal purpose, and radiated the love of Christ in all she did. Her words were few but full of wisdom, grace, and truth—spoken with the authority of one who knew her Redeemer intimately.

Together with her husband, Simone raised a foster son, Bieva Cabant-Stoby. She helped nurture a vibrant church community rooted in Scripture and love. Her spiritual strength, compassion, and servant’s heart left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Even in illness, her faith never wavered—she remained steadfast, clothed in the peace that surpasses all understanding.
